Ughhh any ideas of what could be wrong?

Okay well one of my best friends who is a guy (he's in 10th grade) he's hot too....well he plays really competitive basketball cause he's really good....well he was going in for a layup or whatever and some fat kid tripped him and pushed him into the wall and he landed on his back and he fell on the ground and was just laying there it was soo scary he could move and stuff but it hurt him too and he was crying alittle and he legitt neverr cries about anything so I knew it was bad....his back hurt really bad but he could still move but his coach called 911 cause he could barely stand up cause it hurt really bad...I was soo scared I was like crying on the sidelines it was kinda embaressing lol....he's still in the hospital but idk what's wrong with him...what could be wrongg with himm???????? i'm freaking out:,((( could he be paralyzed? (sorry wrong section)
